Not good for a low volume India caller for me. I have ooma @$200 and I don't spend $200/year calling India. I use the 3.29c/min access number calling card (not the cheapest of all) and aided with all the promotions (Diwali, Independence day etc.), I manage to stay below $200/year mark.

"Kindly do not return our I-485 petitions in July," the messages say, "and honor the original DOS visa bulletin."
The dispute concerns a U.S. Department of State bulletin from mid-June, dictating who could apply for an immigrant visa. The application is the final hurdle in getting a green card, or permanent residency. Because of a backlog, immigrants spend years waiting their turn, but the unusual June bulletin gave most job-based immigrants the go-ahead to apply.
Jakub Gorecki, who lives in Spring Valley, hurried to get his paperwork together in time. The thick packet of documents - medical exams, vaccination records, a birth certificate from Poland, a $325 application fee - was to arrive July 2 at USCIS, he said.

FINALLY I GOT MY PP with Visa Stamp today !!!!
the status changed on the VFS website 'pp delivered' in the morning around 11am.
Here is my case:-
Int for H1B renewal, same company same job, at New Delhi consulate - 14th Jan. VO said "approved, you will get your passport couriered to your home in a couple of days'.
10 days went by and no response. By Feb 1st week, i started calling DOS ..DOS confirmed to have sent the clearance on Jan 25th..
Since then my lawyers and me have been trying to find out the reason for delay from both DOS and embassy.. NO LUCK @@
today on Feb 12th..30 calendar days..i got my pp back. And I am flying back home tonight.
Thanks to everyone who helped me and supported me during this long wait.
In my opinion my case was delayed only for PIMS..but since i had H4, F1, studied at 4 schools, and fairst H1 and this H1B renewal..it took VO good amount of time correlate and work on all this.
I guess mostly delays are for renewals and for people specially with longer history in states. The embassy's are swamped with work and now days a general processing time has been made to 30 days. Infact its also mentioned on their website that most cases are completed withing 30 days..Just FYI..even for PIMS verification, the embassy will report to you as administrative delay.
I hope all this helps to people who are still waiting and who may have long waits in future.

For this kind of phone service, we need Internet (or DSL) connection.
Currently I am paying to ATT for Internet(DSL) service, $30. I have lanline with them currently.
If I cancel land line phone service, my DSL fee may increase to $39 + Taxes, etc.
Can some one recommand best Internet provider info. , better service and price.
FYI, I am living in Michigan.

This Vonage offer is truly revolutionary for international calling to the 60 countries listed. I suspect soon other VOP services in USA will start providing free calls to India once they see customers switching over to Vonage. This should include VOIP service providers that also provide internet and cable services. If they do not catch up, cable companies will lose customers in the phone sector. If ooma: Free home phone service. Call anywhere in the US with no monthly fees. (http://www.ooma.com/) , MagicJack or Skype provides this, it will be much for cost effective to customers.
Such services will help bridge the communication gap between immigrants in USA and their home countries. It will feel like making a local call to family and friends anywhere in the world.

If you entered on AP and your I485 is pending, you cannot fell out-of-status as you are being considered in "Adjustment of status" status. This is somehow a special kind of a status. The only problem one may have is if the I-485 is denied for any reason. At that point you fell out of status. That's the reason many choose to enter on h1 instead AP. Then, even if I485 is denied, a person who entered on H1 is still in H1 legal status. Hence, it is generally advisable to enter and maintain an non-immigrant status while i485 is pending.

I-140 pending at NSC since March 07
Category is Schedule A (now EB3)
I-485 pending at TSC, EAD and AP approved.
There was no communication between the consulate and my employer. I guess it was just luck.
wanted to check one more thing with you.. before how many days you submitted your documents to VFS center in mumbai? (they might have processed PMIS check earlier, after your document submission)

Nice! So what you're saying is that this creative form of protest is a waste of time, even though Mr. Gonzalez responded to it? And we shouldn't indulge in creatively letting our heart-felt feelings known to a step that can be termed as nothing but injustice, and unfair to all uncocerned.
- Injustice to the hard-working USCIS folks who had to work the weekend before the 4th of July week... (frankly, not the fault of USCIS rank and file, they have our collective sympathies and certainly mine)
- Injustice perhaps to Dept of State and Ms. Condi Rice who had to answer the ridiculous questions when DoS was going about its work as normal, or so it seems

Just my 2 cents... Don't think USA is like India where you can do something forcefully. Why don't you guys understand the real problem of USCIS.
Do you think that by sending flower to USCIS will force them to make EB2/EB3 current for 2005/2006/2007 guys??
Please try to understand their problem.
Also India is the great. Why don't you guys just think that India is your home country where you are born and brought up. Why you people can't just wait and watch?? If nothing happens to the so called GC, then why don't you think to pack up and go back to India???????

2 months back or so when i called the representative told that they don't have access to those details.

And to make matters worse, this jerk married a Mexican woman. He is alway behind Mexico and Mexicans for some reason. Imagine that, he lives in NJ, has a several acre house, makes 7/8 figure salary and then teaches American middle class a lesson to avoid goods produced in China/Mexico/India. Avoid them because they add up to trade deficit of USA, avoid them because those countries have stolen jobs from middle class Americans. Why doesn't Lou Dobbs stop using software written by some Indian/Chinesse guy? Why doesn't he stop eating at a place where in the kitchen a Mexican guy is making his meal? why doesn't he stop using Japnesse cars? Why doesn't he quit eating Pizza....afterall it is Italian food? Just a thought. I think something is holding back folks to write up these letters directly to president. Do you guys think it's a good idea just to have these letters mailed to IV and then pass it along to white house administration when IV meets them.
Those who are against IV and have never supported or never wanted to do anything just make it a point that they will NEVER do it. The reason they give will be a "Silence" or a "change in topic of discussion".
Pessimists will say "Nothing will happen" or "So did you get your GC? after the rally?"
Some say "Who cares for GC when you have choice to go home"

How do you know when the process begins and how do you find out if your name clears or is stuck like so many others?
Call (in the morning) 1-800-375-5283 and follow this sequence: 1,2,2,6,1,1,1,3,4.
If the Immigration Officer is kind enough you can ask if the Name Check is cleared. If he/she says No, you can ask him/her the date it was sent to the FBI.
